Our latest blog post about everything that has been happening with the Angel Yard project over the last few weeks.
Members will know that we have started revisiting the Client Brief with a series of meetings. The Client Brief is a document that outlines the needs and goals for Angel Yard. Not everything will be achievable but it sets out the ideas of the group to present to planners, architects etc.
The brief was originally produced in 2018 and the current meetings are looking at the original plan and updating and refining it. If you are a member and haven’t been to a meeting do come along and have your say. If you’re not a member why not join us?
The steering group consists of Andy, Cathy, Christine, Gill, Julie, Lucy, Richard and Stephen, and has been meeting weekly. The group have done a lot so far this year to move the project forwards. They oversaw the re-naming of Sussex Street Cohousing to Angel Yard, along with the launch of a new website and organisation of Zoom meetings.
Doing it ourselves
Already having ownership of the Angel Yard site is a big plus for the group. The next stage is to work with architects and planners to obtain planning permission. The steering group took the decision to try and raise the cost of this themselves. There has been a drive to obtain pledges of investment money to allow the project to proceed and we’re very nearly there! If you would like to help with this do get in touch. All being well the architects are pencilled in to start work this spring.
We want the Angel Yard scheme to be as free of unexpected problems as possible. Therefore the steering group have also been working on a number of the documents associated with investment and the relationship between Angel Yard and the developers helping us, TOWN.
Finally the allotment is being prepared for spring sowing and planting. There’s a lot to do this time of year and Christine would welcome all the help she can get. So, if you’re at a loose end on a Wednesday between and 11.00 and 3.00 why not come along to Allotment Plots 107 - 108, Valpy Ave, Norwich NR3 2EW (opposite house No. 35). Call or text Christine on 07979 746780 to let her know you are coming.
So there’s a lot happening. Hopefully the exciting bit, working with the architects to make a beautiful, diverse, intergenerational, sustainable cohousing community in Norwich, is about to take off. Now is a great time to get involved, so if you’re reading this and aren’t already but would like to be, follow the link to find out more about Angel Yard
